Surviving the 2020 pandemic and the economic and financial challenges that followed, NTU CCA emerged in 2023 as a hub for creative and cultural exchanges in Asia. In partnership with the European Union Delegation to Singapore it has now established a new program that aims to create a peer-to-peer cultural and artistic exchange between Southeast Asia and Europe, with Singapore as its hub. Studio Residencies in the EU for Southeast Asian Artists (SEA AiR) has become a platform offering new professional experiences for emerging visual art practitioners in the format of artistic residencies, hosted by established contemporary art institutions engaged as project partners in Europe, as well as a component of curated group exhibitions in Singapore.
